Kai Amir Avilez

Kai Amir Avilez is attending Howard University and plans to become a pediatric anesthesiologist.

Raised in Belize and on Chicago’s South Side, Kai is deeply committed to addressing disparities in healthcare and education. He is a member of The Gentlemen of Drew Social Club and the Howard University Student Association, partnering with local schools and nonprofits to uplift youth across Washington, D.C. Kai’s vision is to become a physician who heals and advocates, working to dismantle systemic barriers in healthcare across the globe.

Jami’yah Sharp

Jami’yah Sharp will attend North Carolina A&T State University with plans to become a neurosurgeon.

Her passion lies in creating biomedical innovations that address the needs of under-served communities—from making healthcare technology more accessible to launching outreach programs that bring science and health education directly into marginalized neighborhoods.

Yani Alford

Yani Alford is attending DePaul University and aspires to become a neurologist.

Having grown up in underserved communities in Ohio and Detroit, she is driven by a firsthand understanding of how poverty impacts health and access to care. In high school, Yani was a part of CTC, a student-led group supporting survivors of domestic abuse, providing critical resources such as food, shelter, and rehabilitation. Today, she’s committed to becoming both a doctor and an advocate—a powerful voice for communities that are too often overlooked.
